A video has been posted online showing the heart-warming moment a gentle dog befriended a young boy with Down's Syndrome and persuades the child to play. The boy's mother, who posted the video on you tube, said Herman, five, from La Plata, Buenos Aires, usually backs away from contact. Moscow police detain 16 Nigerian students for trashing our embassy in Moscow

Moscow police has detained 16 Nigerian students accused of smashing furniture inside the Nigerian embassy in Moscow. The students went on a rampage yesterday over unpaid grants and had to be forcefully removed from the premises by police, local media reports. The students who are enrolled at colleges of higher education in Russia started smashing things at the conference hall of the embassy after a hearing over their financial problems didn't go well. The students have been detained on charges of hooliganism and will now face administrative charges, the interior ministry said

Miss Nigeria 2013, Miss Ezinne Akudo Anyaoha, on Tuesday marked Independence Day with traffic personnel at Adeola Odeku Road / Ahmadu Bello Way intersection in Victoria Island, Lagos. Ezinne spent over an hour assisting the traffic personnel, comprising the Nigeria Police and LASTMA, to direct traffic at the busy intersection. The queen said she decided to join the traffic personnel on Independence Day to encourage their efforts and to also stress the importance of a safe road user culture. Police arrest three teenage stowaways at Lagos airport

Apparently impressed by the national recognition Daniel got for beating airport security and successfully flying in the tyre hole of a Lagos-bound Arik plane from Benin, three teenage boys have attempted to do the same. Lateef Popolla, 13 (from Ogun State) Amadi Joshua, 14 (from Ebonyi state) and Ukpabio Onyedikachi, 14 (from Abia State) were arrested at different times at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja by the Airport Command of the Nigeria Police Force for allegedly attempting to illegally board some international flights in Lagos, Punch reports.

The commissioner of police at the airport command said the boys were found at different times at the airport with the aim of getting into any plane and travel out of Nigeria. The boys deny they were attempting to board any plane...

Apple is the new most valuable brand in the world, according to a closely followed annual report. The report, to be released next Monday, is from Interbrand, a corporate identity and brand consulting company owned by the Omnicom Group that has been compiling what it calls the Best Global Brands report since 2000. The previous No. 1 brand, Coca-Cola, fell to No. 3.

Not only has Apple replaced Coca-Cola as first among the 100 most valuable brands based on criteria that include financial performance, this is the first time that the soft drink known for slogans like “It’s the real thing” has not been No. 1.
