Heart-warming moment dog coaxed down's syndrome boy to play with him

A video has been posted online showing the heart-warming moment a gentle dog befriended a young boy with Down's Syndrome and persuades the child to play. The boy's mother, who posted the video on you tube, said Herman, five, from La Plata, Buenos Aires, usually backs away from contact. The little boy was initially reluctant to play but after much persuasion from the dog, he starts to play with the dog. See the video after the cut...

Moscow police has detained 16 Nigerian students accused of smashing furniture inside the Nigerian embassy in Moscow. The students went on a rampage yesterday over unpaid grants and had to be forcefully removed from the premises by police, local media reports. The students who are enrolled at colleges of higher education in Russia started smashing things at the conference hall of the embassy after a hearing over their financial problems didn't go well. The students have been detained on charges of hooliganism and will now face administrative charges, the interior ministry said

Police arrest three teenage stowaways at Lagos airport

Apparently impressed by the national recognition Daniel got for beating airport security and successfully flying in the tyre hole of a Lagos-bound Arik plane from Benin, three teenage boys have attempted to do the same. Lateef Popolla, 13 (from Ogun State) Amadi Joshua, 14 (from Ebonyi state) and Ukpabio Onyedikachi, 14 (from Abia State) were arrested at different times at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja by the Airport Command of the Nigeria Police Force for allegedly attempting to illegally board some international flights in Lagos, Punch reports.

The commissioner of police at the airport command said the boys were found at different times at the airport with the aim of getting into any plane and travel out of Nigeria. The boys deny they were attempting to board any plane...

Apple is the new most valuable brand in the world, according to a closely followed annual report. The report, to be released next Monday, is from Interbrand, a corporate identity and brand consulting company owned by the Omnicom Group that has been compiling what it calls the Best Global Brands report since 2000. The previous No. 1 brand, Coca-Cola, fell to No. 3.

Not only has Apple replaced Coca-Cola as first among the 100 most valuable brands based on criteria that include financial performance, this is the first time that the soft drink known for slogans like “It’s the real thing” has not been No. 1.

The gold plated iPhone5 photo circulating online is fake!

The pic of the iPhone on the left has been circulated online with a few blogs alleging that the Federal Government has taken delivery of the 53 gold plated iPhones to celebrate Nigeria's 53rd anniversary tomorrow. I'm not particularly a fan of this government but photoshopping a pic to make a false story look true is probably not the way forward. The federal govt has denied ordering these phones, the UK company, Gold and Co of London, also denied and denounced the story.

Independence In The Dark

Few hours to Nigeria’s 53 years independence and we are still in the dark both Literally and Literarily. No Light, Unemployment, No good road, No Proper housing, No Food plus ASUU is still on strike o…hehehe… This is really disturbing and I cannot Begin to express my disappointment in GEJ and Nigeria as a country. I wonder what we are celebrating. Please I would like to encourage everyone to watch GEJ’s Media Chat #smh… We are in soup o, and the pot is steaming hot. I think GEJ has good intentions but the problem is that he is not a politician, He does not know how to play the Political Chess and he is surrounded by corrupt politicians, the likes of Iwela and co. When the FUEL SUBSIDY was been removed the President promised to use the money actualized from it to set up a new refinery in the North, and fix up the ones not working. Today what has happened to that money, I heard on Channels 890bn was actualized from it oooo… Where is the money?? Death toll rises to 78 in Yobe student attack

The death toll at the College of Agriculure, Gujba ,Yobe State has risen to 78. At least 50 of them were students who were attacked in the early hours of yesterday morning as they slept in their hostel. Some were shot, others were butchered with swords and knives. The gunmen, suspected to be Boko Haram sect members later moved to houses around the hostel, killing residents they find. Then they blocked the Damaturu-Maiduguri road and killed travellers. So far, 78 bodies have been counted, with many more people still unaccounted for. A student of the college who survived the massacre explained what happened...

The State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, confirmed the casualty figure.
No fewer than 42 people were on Friday drowned in a boat mishap on River Niger close to Malilli Village in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

Boko Haram gunmen this morning Sunday September 29th stormed the student dormitory of the College of Agriculture in Gujba, Yobe State, shooting students as they slept, killing at least 30 of them. The death toll could be way higher as several dead bodies were recovered from hostels, classrooms, bushes and corners around the school.

Area Military spokesman Lazarus Eli confirmed the incident and said that security forces have been deployed to the school to protect surviving students until they can all leave the campus. Eli said the attack was carried out by “Boko Haram terrorists who went into the school and opened fire on students while they were sleeping"
